Tighter security in place for Pope Francis’ Brazil mass

With the number of Catholics on the decline in Brazil, Pope Francis’ visit is aimed at winning hearts and souls. More than 150,000 people turned out to see him celebrate mass, where he called on young people to build a more united world. NBC’s Brian Williams reports.

>> the mayor of rio apologized for the lapse in security that allowed crowd to surround at times completely stop the pope on his ride into the city from the airport monday. the pope was in the small fiat minivan and was at times completely exposed. this morning, security was tighter, more visible with 5,000 military and police supplementing plain clothesed security. as pope francis celebrated mass before 150,000 people. later this evening, he was out again as a crush of people surrounded him wanting to take photos.
