Snowfall slams Midwest

A winter storm has brought heavy snowfall to Idaho, Wyoming, Montana and North Dakota among other states in the region. In the West, parts of Oregon were hit with more than 9 inches of snow and the foothills near Sparks, Nev., saw 8.5 inches. Weather Channel’s Mike Seidel reports from Duluth, Minn.

>>> active weather out there, including a powerful storm having a big impact on the u.s. nine states are under winter storm warnings tonight. and in the southeast, take just the city of little rock . they are preparing for a drop of upwards of 40 degrees. mid-70s into the mid-30s in just 24 hours . weather channel meteorologist mike seidel is where the cold weather is, in duluth, minnesota, it is rocking the satellite truck back and forth, in addition to you, mike, good evening.

>> reporter: hey, good evening, brian, it is a wild day out here, winds on lake superior gusting at 40, and the waves crashing behind me. here behind me they have had 22 inches of snow. as you mentioned, millions being impact eed by the snow as i get hit by the wave. and looking here, the colorado ski resorts will get a nice amount of snow, with 12 to 18 inches, even plowable snow, where the temperature fell in just hours. it is even colder friday, fargo, two below zero and wind chills as cold as 30 below zero . and all of this is heading south . we have winter storm watches out for several states from texas to indiana, ahead of the forecast, the snow, sleet and ice, beginning late thursday and continuing into friday. brian?
