Doctor prescribes video game to ease soldier’s pain

On the last day of Sam Brown’s first tour of duty in Kandahar, Afghanistan, his Humvee ran over an IED and exploded into a fireball – engulfing his body in flames.  In order to recover, Brown endured more than two dozen painful surgeries but was deeply concerned about his growing dependence on addictive pain killing narcotics.  So his doctor suggested something completely unexpected: a video game.  Natalie Morales’ full report airs Thurs., Oct. 25 at 10pm/9c on NBC’s Rock Center with Brian Williams.
