Recently in celebrity real estate circles, actor James Franco put down property roots in LA, Olivia Wilde listed her home in LA and singer Usher put one of his homes on the market.
James Franco buys in Silver Lake
James Franco has never been one to follow the Hollywood crowd. Rather than pick up a mock-Mediterranean manse in Beverly Hills, the actor (as well as writer, college teacher and poet) bought a duplex in Silver Lake, according to the Real Estalker blog.
For the past few years Franco has been living in New York, where he was simultaneously attending Columbia U niversity and New York University for writing and filmmaking. He also is a English Ph.D. candidate at Yale. In between classes, Franco has starred in acclaimed films such as “127 Hours” and “Milk.”
Purchased in August for $775,000, Franco’s new home is described as a “mini compound” with a main 2-bed, 1.75-bath home and additional attached 1-bed, 1-bath area with kitchen and deck that can be used as a rental or space for family and friends to stay.

Olivia Wilde lists in LA, buys in NY
Some people move cross-country for jobs.
Others move cross-country for love.
Actress Olivia Wilde recently picked up a new place in New York, listing her home in Los Angeles for sale.
She readily admits she moved for her boyfriend, actor Jason Sudeikis. In a recent interview with USA Today, the “House” actress said she’s been spending time “decorating our new apartment. That’s a lot of what I do.”
Wilde’s Los Feliz place, pictured in the gallery, was formerly listed as a rental for $9,500 a month, but apparently the relationship is serious enough that she’s ready to dump her West Coast digs. She bought the home in March 2011 for $2.295 million, according to property listings. The home is listed for $2.495 million.
Located at 2510 Chislehurst Pl, Los Angeles, CA 90027, Wilde’s home is a classic 1929 Spanish-style villa. Measuring 3.284 square feet, the home has 4 beds, 3 baths, a library and media/screening room.
Wilde’s new place in New York is a tad smaller. The 2-bed, 2.5-bath apartment is just 1,950 square feet. According to property records, Wilde closed on the Manhattan apartment for $3.225 million. The loft has enormous windows, hardwood floors and open spaces perfect for entertaining.

Usher lists Georgia home previously occupied by ex-wife
R&B superstar Usher bought a massive Georgia mansion back in 2007, while he and ex-wife Tameka Raymond were still married. After their divorce in 2009, Tameka continued to live in the house, with the caveat that Usher could sell the home at any point if he gave her 60-day notice.
Apparently Usher gave her the notice because the Roswell home is on the market for $3.2 million.
Built in 2004, the luxe home spans 12,544 square feet on more than 4 acres. The 6-bed, 7-bath home has vaulted ceilings, high-end finishes and an outdoor pool.
