Olivia Sterns is the business and technology correspondent for NBC News and MSNBC. She covers breaking business news from Wall Street to Main Street. In this role, she works the consumer beat, helping people save money and time through her recurring series “The Price You Pay” and “Good Cents.”

Sterns also was dispatched to Paris and Brussels to cover the financial impact of global terrorism. Her stories appear on all platforms, including “TODAY,” “Nightly News with Lester Holt,” MSNBC and NBCNews.com. 

Prior to joining NBC, Olivia worked for Bloomberg Television, co-anchoring “Bloomberg Surveillance” and covering business and economics.  She spent three years based in London, reporting on the European debt crisis and stories throughout EMEA.

Sterns has interviewed dozens of world leaders and CEOs of Fortune Global 500 Companies, including Richard Branson, Elon Musk, the Russian Foreign Minister and the South African Central Bank Governor.  She also hosted "Inside De Beers," a 30-minute special on Netflix that tracked the journey of diamonds from Botswana to Bond Street.

Prior to Bloomberg, Sterns worked at CNN International, ABC News and at The Institute for State Effectiveness -- a think-tank run by Ashraf Ghani, the current President of Afghanistan.

Sterns graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science. She also earned her Masters of Science degree in Global Politics from the London School of Economics. Sterns currently resides in New York City.
