This week in celebrity real estate, The Biggest Loser's Jillian Michaels listed her Los Angeles home, daughter of Ron Howard, Bryce Dallas Howard sold her house, and it was revealed that Reese Witherspoon bought the home next door to her spread in Brentwood.
Jillian Michaels lists LA home in 2.45 million For sale: a home literally built on sweat and difficult workouts. Jillian Michaels, the raspy-voiced trainer who built a fitness empire through workout books, videos and starring on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser,” just listed her house for $2.45 million.
The listing doesn’t include an indoor gym in the description, but with an open floor plan and well-landscaped yard, the house certainly has plenty of space for Michaels to hone her nationally-acclaimed weight-loss techniques.
According to property records, Michaels bought the home for $1.565 million in 2008. Measuring 2,701 square feet with 3 beds and 4 baths, the property has the kind of modern amenities you would expect in a celeb home: a security system with cameras, a pre-wired sound system and a modern kitchen with sleek marble counters.
While Michaels also owns another home — a 2-bedroom she picked up in 2005 — it’s unclear which has been her primary residence. Michaels and her partner, Heidi Rhoades, have two children.

Bryce Dallas Howard finally sells Hollywood Hills villa You may know her as the self-righteous Hilly Holbrook in “The Help,” but off-screen Bryce Dallas Howard is known for avoiding special treatment because of her father, Ron Howard. The famed director’s daughter is forging a path of her own in showbiz and real estate.
The award-winning actress and director recently sold her Hollywood Hills home for $2.455 million. After purchasing it in 2006 for $2.9 million, she listed the property in 2010. After dropping the price and taking it off the market for a few years, Howard and her husband, Seth Gabel, relisted the property in February for $2.355 million.
It’s unclear why the couple wanted to sell their home, and whether they flipped it in the process. Regardless, the new owner can look forward to several plush amenities — from a sauna and wine cellar to a vine-covered loggia and breathtaking canyon views.
The listing agent for the property described the 1931 Mediterranean villa as “truly an entertainer’s dream” with French doors leading to landscaped patios, courtyards, an outdoor fireplace and a large grassy yard.
The ranch-style home is described by the listing agent as an “enchanted cottage” that’s “warm and inviting.” With a glass art studio and hillside gardens, the home offers a retreat from downtown L.A.
It isn’t surprising Witherspoon would choose a getaway outside the city center — her Ojai ranch provided the feeling of being in the country while only an hour removed from Los Angeles. And, with a recent trip to jail on a disorderly conduct charge, the actress is likely looking to steer clear of the paparazzi.
It also isn’t surprising Witherspoon bought a few houses down from her existing property; celebs have a track record for hopping around the same neighborhood or owning several properties within the same ZIP code. Actress Kate Hudson is known for buying a $5.8 million home next door to her longtime Pacific Palisades residence, and Oracle CEO Larry Ellison also recently added to his collection of homes on Malibu’s “Billionaires’ Row.”
While celebs typically move up with successive home purchases, however, Witherspoon paid less for this property than her two other Brentwood homes. It’s also the smallest of the three, measuring 3,053 square feet.
The property hit the market for the first time in nearly four decades last summer, with an original asking price of $3.45 million. Witherspoon closed the deal for $3 million in December.
