Nearly 40 Million Votes Have Already Been Cast in the 2016 Election Nationwide

As of November 5, nearly 40 million early votes (39,698,467) have been cast in the presidential election nationwide. In 12 battleground states, more than 18 million votes have been cast — including more than 5 million in Florida, nearly 3 million in North Carolina and more than 1.5 million in Arizona, Colorado and Ohio.

So far, Democratic-affiliated voters have outpaced Republican-affiliated voters in Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, Ohio, Virginia and Wisconsin. In Arizona, Georgia and Pennsylvania, more Republican-affiliated voters have cast ballots so far.

In Florida, an equal proportion of Democratic-affiliated and Republican-affiliated voters have cast ballots. This trend has been continuing in the Sunshine State for the last several days. As of today, however, the proportion of Democratic-affiliated and Republican-affiliated early voters in Colorado are now tied.
