Authorities in West Virginia have confirmed a body discovered on the banks of the Ohio River in Gallia County, Ohio is that of missing woman Frances Wartenburg.
Dental records were used to confirm the identity late Tuesday night.
Frances was last seen on February 22nd, 2015 leaving a birthday party for her cousin's child in Jefferson, West Virginia. She reportedly went to her boyfriend's home then left to catch a ride back to her mother's house in St. Albans, according to her family. That's when things get fuzzy.
Whether the 33-year-old caught a ride or not is unknown.
"There was a lot of confusion because we thought she was with her boyfriend and just busy, and her boyfriend thought she had made it back home to us," Kim Hooter, a close family friend of the Wartenburgs, told Dateline. "After we heard both of us were looking for her and we talked to him, we all knew it was big trouble."
Police have not said if foul play is suspected and have not yet released a cause of death.
