A New Orleans survivor has been united with his two dogs, Missy and Champ.
Bernard Williams swam through the floods to save the animals, only to leave them with rescue workers when he was evacuated.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reports the dogs ended up in San Diego and Williams was traced through a cellphone number written on the dogs’ paperwork. The city’s Humane Society flew Williams in from Louisiana to pick up the pets. The trip cost $1,000.
Williams returns today to Orleans Parish, where he will live with his chow chows in temporary housing before moving into an apartment.
