State Superintendent Elizabeth Burmaster has targeted 39 Wisconsin schools with mascots that "have to go". Pulaski says it's a case of mistaken identity. The state has sent letters to 39 schools that have mascots that may be deemed offensive to Native Americans. Schools on the list have mscots such as Indians, Warriors and Apaches.

But at Pulaski High, the "Red Raiders" mascot refers to Revolutionary War general Kashmir Pulaski, from Poland. Pulaski led a cavalry unit named the "Red Raiders". The school board says they'll wait until they recieve the formal letter from the state before making their case to keep the mascot, which features a revolutionary soldier in a pose similar the the Notre Dame University "Fighting Irish" logo.
