Global air passengers up 5.9 percent

International air passenger traffic grew 5.9 percent over the first nine months of this year compared with the same period in 2005, the global industry body IATA said on Wednesday.

International air passenger traffic grew 5.9 percent over the first nine months of this year compared with the same period in 2005, the global industry body IATA said on Wednesday.

Freight carried by its member airlines, which number around 260 and represent about 94 percent of international scheduled air traffic, was up 5.2 percent over the same period, said IATA, the International Air Transport Association.
