Someone's been making phony emergency calls for nearly a year, but the Coast Guard isn't amused.
Officials say the same prankster is behind 15 fake mayday calls in North Carolina. So far, the Coast Guard says it's spent close to ten-thousand dollars responding to them. The most recent incident came last week, with the caller even giving a specific location to search.
Coast Guard officials say they're searching for the person responsible. If convicted, there could be large fines or a prison sentence.
