Employees of the U.S. Treasury Department evacuated the building for about 30 minutes Wednesday evening in response to a fire alarm set off by a burst water pipe, department officials said.

Treasury Department public affairs officials were unsure why the burst pipe on the building's second floor would set off the alarm. There were no injuries, Treasury spokeswoman Brookly McLaughlin said.

The building reopened at 5:46 p.m., she said.
