UPDATE: Portsmouth Police are searching for the person responsible in a double shooting Tuesday night, just before midnight. One man is dead and another is wounded.
The first shooting happened near Portsmouth Boulevard and Elm Street. The second and deadly shooting was at Oak and Summit Streets Neither scene is far from where each of the victims lived.
Charles Felix Richardson is remembered for his kind actions by Dianna Jordan who said he comforted her when her son, his best friend, was killed.
"He's always been there for people. I lost a son. He stayed by my side for four months after the fact. He was still visiting me. He was over at my house this weekend and talking about my son. He was nice to people. This shouldn't have happened to him," said Jordan.
Police said Richardson was shot and killed around midnight on Tuesday, near Oak and Summit Streets.
"It was just as if one of my kids got killed all over again," said Jordan, "It's just uncalled for. Nobody don't know why, don't nobody know who and it's just uncalled for."
Jordan said Richardson was a single father of two young kids.
Jarvis Blow knows 43-year-ld Elvin Battle who was was shot in the arm and wounded minutes earlier than Richardson at Portsmouth Boulevard and Elm Street.
"When I saw him last night, he was laughing," Blow said, "All of us were sitting out here. We always come out here and talk every night. He was his normal self last night. Everything was fine. He was his normal self. Nothing wrong."

One killed, one injured in Portsmouth double shooting

A man was killed and another injured in a double shooting in Portsmouth overnight. Police responded to the intersection of Portsmouth Blvd and Elm St Tuesday night where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm. He was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. His condition was not known.
A short distance away, at Oak and Summit Ave, police found a second shooting victim who had already died. His name had not been released until his family was notified. A man who knew the victim told 10 On Your Side the man leaves behind two young children. "[He was] talking about them all the time, now look at him; somebody just took a beautiful life from him," Kirk Trotter said. Trotter also said the victim's mother had also recently died. "It's just senseless."
Police had not released a motive or named any suspects in the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
