There's a happy ending to the tale of a lamb that went on the lam.

After escaping a live-animal market and leading New York City police on a chase through several blocks in the Bronx, the 7-month-old female lamb has been taken to an upstate animal sanctuary.

She was taken to the sanctuary in Watkins Glen Saturday. An official at the Animal Care and Control shelter in Manhattan says the lamb looked "very happy and relieved."

That's understandable. The lamb was going to be sold for food before she slipped out of the animal market Wednesday. Police captured her and turned her over to the Manhattan shelter.

The shelter staff gave her a fitting nickname: Lucky Lady.
