American Airlines, the nation’s largest carrier, is giving storm-affected travelers a fee break when it comes to rescheduling.

Fort Worth-based American is allowing passengers to change their travel plans once within a certain time frame without the usual charges.

American, in its summer storms travel policy posted Thursday on its Web site, cited recent bad weather in the eastern half of the United States.

Parts of Texas this week have been inundated by flooding.

The ticket policy applies to people traveling to, from or through Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, New York and Texas. The fee waivers apply for people flying American from Tuesday through Sunday.

Tickets must have been issued no later than Tuesday.

Eligible passengers may change their reservations to travel as late as Monday, July 9, with no additional fee.
