John Cameron's multi-day crime spree that police said started with attempted arson and went on to include carjackings, robberies, assault and a fatal stabbing, came to an end when police apprehended him late Thursday night in Delwaware, less than a day after he stabbed a mini-mart clerk to death. Late Tuesday, Cameron, 41, of Wilmington, was spotted trying to torch a relative's car, and by 7:30 a.m. the next morning, he had robbed a woman using a screwdriver, police said. Moments later, he carjacked a vehicle, drove to a Philadelphia Pike A-Plus Mini-Mart in Claymont and killed the overnight clerk -- John Young, a father of four -- during a robbery, according to investigators.

Thursday afternoon, he carjacked another vehicle and assaulted someone else less than an hour later.

About 10 hours later, authorities said they spotted him walking out of a wooded area near Peachtree Road and Naamans Road in Claymont and followed him after he drove off in a stolen car.

They captured him at a local gas station and he was taken to the hospital for treatment after police said he resisted arrest. He was taken back to police headquarters in Newark and charged with robbery, murder and assault, among other related charges.
