The search is on for University of Oregon math professor Daming Xu. He went hiking in the Cougar Reservoir area Sunday morning, but never came back.
McKenzie Bridge (KMTR) - Searchers have found the vehicle belonging to a missing University of Oregon math professor who disappeared in the Cougar Reservoir area, east of Springfield.
Relatives say Daming Xu went for a hike Sunday morning, but never came back.
Lane County Search and Rescue crews began combing the area late Monday night. Around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, searchers found Xu's vehicle parked at a trailhead off U.S. Forest Service Road 19, seven miles east of Highway 126.
The Lane County Sheriff's Office is expanding the search with more ground personnel and a helicopter.
