A would-be mugger apologized to his victim, saying he had the wrong guy. The man, 36, pulled a knife on a man unloading groceries outside his home, according to a Fond du Lac Police Department report.
The knife-wielding man asked for money and attempted to punch the younger man, 27, the report said. Another man pulled the would-be mugger away.
The suspect returned later and apologized, saying he mistook him for someone else, the report said. He was arrested Saturday night as he left a convenience store.
He was held in the Fond du Lac County Jail on a tentative charge of disorderly conduct-use of a dangerous weapon. He has not yet been formally charged.
