The deal
As winter playgrounds both at home and abroad gear up for the ski season, resort prices are rising at dramatic speeds. High-season deals are hard to come by, but we've found a trio of stellar bargains to get you schussing down premier slopes in the U.S. and Europe. Case in point: A six-night ski holiday in the Austrian Alps now costs just $685, with airfare, a cozy hotel stay, and daily breakfast. We've also found a terrific hotel package at Aspen's hip Sky Hotel for $327/night, and a discounted air-inclusive vacation in Canada's Banff from $663.

Aspen hotel package for just $327/night
A ski break in Aspen, Colorado, can’t be beat if you want to catch a dose of alpine fun in this chic winter playground. Aspen's hippest property, The Sky Hotel, has a great-value hotel package that starts at $327/night (with a three-night minimum stay). This price covers lodging and daily lift tickets for two. Described by The New York Times as a “sky-high playground” and by Travel + Leisure as “right in the center of Aspen’s whirl”, The Sky is a trendy boutique spot where winter rates typically run north of $450/night. Its swanky rooms come with butter-yellow walls, black headboards, and other distinctive accents such as your own personal oxygen bottle (!).

Ski holiday in Canada’s Banff for $663
Want to bundle your air and hotel at one sweet price? We recommend a ski holiday north of the border to the Canadian Rockies. With the Expedia offer we found, you can hit the slopes this January at one of North America’s top ski resorts, Banff. The low price of $663 covers air from Seattle and a three-night stay at plush Fairmont Banff Springs where winter rates normally go north of $400/night. Frommer’s writes, “the Banff Springs is one of the most beautiful and famous hotels in North America. Founded in 1888 as an opulent destination resort by the Canadian Pacific Railroad, this stone castle of a hotel is still the best address in Banff.”

Escape to the Austrian Alps for $685
For some ski fun in the Austrian Alps, look no further than Ski Europe. There are a few places left on a weeklong escape to the scenic Tyrolean town of Innsbruck for only $685. Valid for departures on January 10, this terrific special covers airfare from New York (or your preferred getaway at low extra cost), six nights at simple but pleasant Hotel Tautermann, and buffet breakfast daily. Airfare alone would normally exceed the total price of this package so we recommend booking without further thought. Did we forget to mention Innsbruck’s 200 trails that spread over 310 miles of top-rated ski terrain?

The dollars
If you take into account that all the above low-priced packages are valid during the peak ski season, you’re scoring some stellar deals indeed.
