Sling Media Inc. said Friday it will release software later this year allowing consumers to watch television on broadband-enabled Research In Motion Ltd. BlackBerry smartphones.
The BlackBerry version of Slingbox Mobile connects with Sling Media's Slingbox units, which enable consumers to remotely view their televisions over the Internet. SlingPlayer Mobile already is available for phones running the Windows Mobile, Palm OS and Symbian operating systems.
SlingPlayer Mobile sells for $29.99, and comes with a free 30-day trial.
Sling Media is a subsidiary of EchoStar Holding Corp.
