Republicans are blaming the nation's rising unemployment rate on Democratic policies.
In the GOP's weekly address, Rep. Candice Miller of Michigan says the $789 billion economic stimulus package backed by President Barack Obama has fallen far short of its goals.
She's also criticizing a House-passed energy bill that would set limits and costs on greenhouse gas emissions. Miller says the plan "would increase electricity bills, raise gasoline prices and ship more American jobs overseas."
Instead, the Michigan Republican calls for deeper tax cuts for small businesses to put the economy "back on track."
As for health care, Miller says the president's proposals will do nothing to help address job losses.
