Mega star David Beckham, Hawaii-born Brian Ching and other soccer stars will be playing in the Pan Pacific Soccer Tournament on Wednesday and Saturday at Aloha Stadium.

Members of the Los Angeles Galaxy arrived on Monday.

Beauty queens and musicians greeted the players at the airport. Osbaldo Verdin, 10, and his 7-year-old brother went with a ball and two Sharpie pens, hoping someone famous might sign it.

"I have a soccer ball here. I want Beckham to autograph it," Verdin said.

As Beckham and other members of the Los Angeles Galaxy team appeared the crowd went wild. The beauty queens gave leis and the band played. Fans ducked under the ropes and posed for a picture.

Organizers of the Hawaii tournament are hoping locals will take to the sport.

Beckham said he is happy to be playing in the islands.

"Very happy. It's my first time in Hawaii. I look forward to see the beaches and everything that's beautiful here," Beckham said.

What about the little boy with the soccer ball? Beckham appeared headed straight for bus, but noticed young fans screaming and took the time to sign some autographs.

"Everybody started screaming 'Beckham give me an autograph,' and he started signing. I got him," Verdin said.

Beckham and his Galaxy play Gamba Osaka of Japan at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Ching and his Houston Dynamo play Sydney FC in the following match.
