Authorities at the Port of Long Beach say nothing was found inside a cargo container marked with graffiti saying there was anthrax inside.
Long Beach Fire Battalion Chief Frank Hayes said a truck hauling the container into the port was stopped at a terminal around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday because of the spray-painted graffiti.
The container was moved to an isolated area for inspection and hazardous materials crews wearing oxygen tanks and protective suits opened it.
Authorities said the container was marked with graffiti saying "Anthrax a gift from Osama."
The truck driver told authorities the container was picked up in nearby Wilmington and was empty.
There were no evacuations and terminal operations resumed as normal, authorities said.
