A Japanese domestic flight spurted sparks from one of its main wheels Thursday as it landed at a southern airport but none of its 141 passengers were injured.
Emitting sparks, All Nippon Airways flight NH489 screeched to a stop as it landed at Fukuoka Airport, footage from public broadcaster NHK showed. Several fire engines stood by on the runway.
The plane was returning to Fukuoka Airport about 15 minutes after it took off for the southern island of Okinawa because of landing gear trouble, All Nippon Airways spokeswoman Kikuko Asai said.
The plane safely landed and none of its 141 passengers and 8 crew members were injured, Asai said.
She said the sparks came from a section of the left landing gear.
