Bob Bowman not only is coach of 11-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps, he's also the owner of a winning thoroughbred horse named Vanderkaay, the New York Times reported.
The colt won the Dancing Count Stakes at Pimlico in February.
Bowman told the Times he is getting an understanding of what it must have felt like for Lucien Laurin, the trainer of Secretariat, who won the Triple Crown in 1973.
"It's got to be pretty close," Bowman said. "I can't imagine it being much better."
Bowman was referring to Phelps' quest for eight gold medals at the Beijing Olympics. He already has five and needs three more to surpass Mark Spitz's legendary achievement in 1972.
