The deal
Hawaii is a hotbed for deals in autumn. Prices dip and crowds thin out as school-year routines resume full swing, yet the weather and scenery remain delightful. To help you take advantage of the sand, surf and savings, here’s a roundup of air-hotel packages, starting as low as $862 for four nights. Whether you’re after a kid-free escape, beachfront bliss or adventure in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, you have about three months to take advantage of low-season rates. With 30-days advance planning, you can even grab discounts of up to 30 percent on winter trips through January. All you need to do is pick an island.

Four nights on Kauai from $862
Eager for a relaxing November break amid the miles of beaches, coconut groves, mountains and waterfalls on the oldest of the Hawaiian Islands? Four nights’ accommodation plus airfare between Los Angeles and Kauai, is available from $862 through Expedia. By booking 30 days in advance of travel, you’ll receive a 10 percent discount on your hotel stay at ResortQuest Kauai Beach at Makaiwa. Tucked along the island’s eastern coast, the 311-room oceanfront resort features recently renovated rooms with refrigerators and internet access. For an extra charge, guests can partake of the Hiva Pasefika Luau — widely considered among the best on the island — every night but Monday.

Fifth night free in Oahu
For a budget-conscious Oahu vacation, we suggest an offer through Hawaiian Airlines and provided by Get2Hawaii: Get a free fifth night at Waikiki’s New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel when you pay for four. The package, which includes round-trip airfare from Los Angeles, is available from $863. The three-star hotel, set in the shadow of Diamond Head and next to Kapiolani Park, sports a surfside location on swimmer-friendly Sans Souci Beach; complimentary beach towels and mats; and 125 non-smoking rooms. The sample package price is based on travel between September 15 and November 10 and includes all taxes. Beware of blackout dates in October.

Maui hotel savings of 30 percent

Prefer to go to Maui? You can land a 30 percent discount on a stay at the Sheraton Maui Resort in Lahaina though Expedia’s Book Early and Save Promo. The sprawling property, set on 23 acres next to Maui’s famous Black Rock promontory, boasts a prime spot on Kaanapali Beach. Four nights’ lodging at the 500-plus-room hotel in addition to a round-trip flight can be had for $965. The package quote is based on December travel from Los Angeles. If you can’t wait, November sample rates start at $1,065. By January, though, prices jump to a high-season $1,538. For full savings, remember to make arrangements at least 30 days before travel.

Hawaii luxury from $1,081
If Big Island luxury is more your style, Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel may be the place for you. According to Frommers, the hotel “enjoys one of the best locations on the Kohala Coast.” Complimentary perks including valet parking; nightly turndown service; 32 acres of oceanfront property along the white-sand Hapuna Beach; spa facilities; and an Arnold Palmer/Ed Seay-designed golf course. Four nights with airfare starts at $1,081 through Expedia, based on November travel from Los Angeles. Book early and you’ll get a bonus of the fifth night free on a five-night stay. If you prefer to travel sooner, has a similar package valid through November 6 that includes air from L.A., room upgrade, free fifth night and $100 resort credit from $1,351.
