Congratulations to Kelsey Glynn of Liberty Lake, Wash. Her photo, overlooking Lake Pend Oreille (pronounced POND-er-ay) from high atop Schweitzer Mountain in Northern Idaho, generated the most votes in this week’s “It’s A Snap” contest.
Glynn and her family have been driving up to Schweitzer for years. “It’s my favorite place in the world,” the high school freshman said.
Glynn said they had passed the overlook several times, but were overwhelmed by the beauty on one specific warm, summer day. “It was so pretty with the flowers and the trees … I really, really liked it.”
Schweitzer Mountain is a popular destination for skiers and snowboarders, but there’s plenty to do in the summer, too. When the ski area is void of snow, visitors can still take scenic lift rides, pick huckleberries, play disc golf, take horseback rides and more. In fact, 2008 was Schweitzer’s best summer yet.
