We are a creative/technical team at the #1 online news site whose mission is to develop innovative storytelling formats and rich internet applications for our audience. We are looking for a passionate, talented, fun and inventive web developer to help us move beyond client side solutions for information and content presentation. Responsibilities will include designing and developing content authoring tools for integration with our n-tier publishing platform, setting up new data stores, working with third-party web services and SDKs, and mentoring front-end web developers as we experiment with mapping, mobile, and data visualization applications. A successful candidate will be comfortable developing a system end-to-end, from gathering requirements, to front-end UI to middle tier services to database modeling. The ideal candidate is someone who possesses strong technical skills, is a self starter with excellent problem-solving skills, thinks strategically, and can collaborate well with others. This person needs to work well as part of a team and has a drive to follow through and deliver results independently.
Requirements:
· BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
· Hands-on programming experience in C#/ASP.Net
· Solid experience with presentation layer technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and AJAX
· Ability to consume and transform structured data formats such as XML and JSON; experience with XSLT preferred
· Knowledgeable in database design and SQL
· A passion for web standards, the best UI/UX practices, and cross-browser compatibility
· Familiarity with RIA tools such as Flash or Silverlight a plus
