Leon Panetta is settling in as the CIA's new director and says that honesty will be a watchword in his tenure as the nation's spy chief.
Panetta is overseeing major changes in the CIA as directed by President Barack Obama, including an end to the use of harsh interrogation tactics and the closure of secret prisons.
Panetta was sworn in Thursday at the agency's headquarters in suburban Virginia as Vice President Joe Biden and a crowd of 200 people looked on.
In remarks at the ceremony, Panetta said honesty is needed in dealing with the public as well as the president.
