The beautiful, blue skies of Siena, Italy were interrupted as a plane flew over the Torre del Mangia. After capturing the smoke trail, I followed the booming sound of drums into the sprawling Piazza del Campo, where the neighborhood parade had begun for the drawing for the Siena Palio festival. It was an unexpected traveling treat, as the parade had flag bearers, drummers and an ensemble of spectators all cheering and waving as the parade marched past.
