A Corvette summer day

In the back of the Santa Maria Valley YMCA's parking lot, some very flashy Corvettes sat on display Saturday.

Members of car clubs from across the state turned out for the Santa Maria-based Vapor Trail Vettes Club Corvette show, that also included rallies, games, raffle prizes, awards and a Santa Maria-style barbecue.

Scott and Renita Glover from Fullerton were among Corvette owners entering the show.

"So far, we've having a great time," said Scott Glover from the driver's seat of his white 2000 CS Corvette.

"There's every generation of Corvette here," he added.

Corvettes on display ranged from versions built between 1957 and 2008, according to organizers.

About 20 cars turned up at the show, said Gale Haugen of the Vapor Trail Vettes.

This was the first year the car show used the YMCA parking lot, she said.

"This is a very nice venue for a car show," Haugen said.

Turnout was good, she said.

"Actually, we got a little bit more than we expected," Haugen added.
