(PENSACOLA, Fla.) Aug. 3 - Escambia County Sheriff's Deputies say the men stole racks of formal dresses, purses and accessories to match. the only thing they didn't take were the shoes. All of it, officials says showed up weeks later on a stage for a drag show. They had an eye for things that glittered.and -- Brenda Carraway will tell you-- a price tag to match. Anything that was black and gold was gone. Anything a size six and up was gone, she says. These men may not be petites....but the Escambia County Sheriff's Office says they are part of a big robbery ring responsible for more than 30 break-ins to bridal boutiques and beauty salons. What's amazing, says Joann Wilson, an investigator with th ECSO, to me is that each of them would go in and grab about 95 dresses each...per store. Deputies say they got away with at least thirty thousand dollars worth of formal wear. Wilson says there are at least two hundred more dresses unaccounted for. The fact they kept all these things themselves, she says, and them wore them out on the weekends was the biggest surprise. They were costumes for the cat walk, deputies say. The men are cross-dressers.and these became their high priced party dresses. They had hot-glued beads and jewels to some of them im not really sure why, for the show I guess, says Carraway. --A show that came to an abrupt halt when the group was caught on survielance camera. This time-- deputies say, they'll be wearing stripes rather than sparkles when they have to face the music and dance.
