SEATTLE (AP) - The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration on Friday signed a 20-year lease with the Port of Newport, Ore., for the new home of its West Coast marine operations center. NOAA announced earlier this week that it would move the center and the ships assigned to it from Seattle to the city on the central Oregon coast. The move will involve about 175 jobs. NOAA spokesman David Hall says he does not have details on terms of the lease. Newport officials say the new base is expected to cost between $35 million and $38 million, to be paid for through a combination of revenue bonds and money from the state of Oregon.
