FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The impact of Eunice Kennedy Shriver's contributions are very real in Allen County.

This past May a Special Olympics competition was held at the Leo Junior-Senior High School.

Stacey Fleming founded a local chapter of the Special Olympics largely because of the influence Shriver had on her life.

Fleming says, “People with intellectual disabilities have a purpose and a reason and they have possibilities and she spent her life promoting and giving those opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities."

About 200 people now take part in Special Olympics activities here in Allen County.
