Community honors fallen marine

(BAY MINETTE, Ala.) Aug. 16 - Draped by an American flag, a son, proud American and U.S. Marine is back home for his final goodbyes. Lance Cpl. Bruce Ferrell, Jr. was flown back to the Gulf Coast Sunday morning.His visitation was held at the John F. Rhodes Civic Center in Bay Minette Sunday afternoon. Ferrell was killed by a roadside bomb while serving a 7-month stint in Afghanistan last weekend. The family, friends and community all came to honor the Perdido native. His dad said the support pouring in from the community has astounded him. You would just not people the support that has come in from Mobile all the way to Bay Minette, Bruce Ferrell, Sr. Said. He'd have been real proud. Lance Cpl. Bruce Ferrell Jr., will be laid to rest tomorrow at the Bryars-McGill Cemetery. His funeral will be held at the John F. Rhodes Civic Center. It starts at 2 P.M.
