CORPUS CHRISTI - It's not often that a high school football team can say they didn't lose a single senior to graduation.

However, that's exactly what John Paul II is carrying into this season, following a big-time learning experience.

Since last season was the school's first ever on the football field, it wasn't a surprise that the Centurions struggled to win just three games all year. However, this time they've got some juniors and seniors in the mix, and a very favorable schedule. John Paul II will play eight games at home this year.

"Just the crowd giving us more support, playing where we're comfortable and it'll show in our game," WR/CB Nick Vidal said.

"Training camp, I'd have to say, was a little tougher this year. We came out full-throttle and since day one we've been getting after it harder than we did last year, and I have to say we're looking mighty good this year," LB/RB P. J. Martinez said.

"I think everybody is just doing a lot better than we were last year. We're getting to the ball quicker and interceptions are coming at lot easier. Pretty much, I think we're going to do great this year," tackle Paul Merryman said.
