Update: Not Guilty Plea for Pope County Doctor in Weapons Case

The Pope County doctor accused of illegally obtaining military weapons pleaded not guilty in federal court in Little Rock today.

Dr. Randeep Mann, 51, of London, went before Judge Beth Deere this afternoon.

Mann is charged with possessing 98 unregistered grenades and two firearms. He's been in state custody since his arrest in March.

Outside the courtroom today, Mann's attorney commented on the allegation made last week that Mann is the "prime suspect" in the February car bombing that severely injured West Memphis doctor Trent Pierce, who is head of the State Medical Board. He was hospitalized for months after the explosion outside his home.

Mann's attorney John Wesley Hall told KARK 4 that Mann had proof he checked into a local gym to workout the night before the bombing and that he was home in bed the morning of the blast. Hall says any evidence against Mann is circumstantial. Read more atarkansasmatters.com.
