3 apartments damaged in morning St. Pete fire

Crews from St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue responded this morning to an apartment fire at 6345 25th St. S.

Fire and rescue crews were called to the fire at 8:07 a.m.

When they arrived, firefighters found fire climbing the outside of the two-story building. Firefighters had to break through walls on both floors to attack the fire.

Fire crews needed about 20 minutes to get the fire under control, incident commander Gerard Chalmers reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire officials believe the fire may have started near a cluster of air conditioners on the outside of the building

Three apartments were damaged.

The tenants of the damaged apartments were given shelter elsewhere in the building.
