The usually quiet town of Cotton, just north of Duluth, turned up the volume today.

The Riverside Country Music Festival kicked off for its first year.

Organizers said it's just good music down on the farm.

They decided to create the three day long music festival as a way to promote local and regional artists that deserve to be highlighted.

One of the volunteers, Jeff Gibson, said the feedback has been incredible and dedication of organizers has been solid.

"The level of support and commitment from the volunteers, everybody pulling together, all the unpaid volunteers and all the folks like myself breaking their backs 20 hours a day and it's really just a testament to how valued the winter family is and how much we want this to work for everybody," said Gibson.

Besides music, the event included what organizers described as redneck games, good food and camping.

Plans are already underway to host the event against next year.
