LOS ANGELES -- UCLA running backs coach Wayne Moses says the Bruins will play a lot of tailbacks throughout the season, which begins on Sept. 5 against visiting San Diego State. But that's what coaches say when they don't have a clear starter or a reliable backup or any proof of whether the Bruins have any legs to stand on.
Saturday's scrimmage at Drake Stadium should have provided more answers, confidence and perhaps even security. Instead it had Moses seeking an athletic trainer for an ankle update and scraping the clouds for the silver lining of, "At least we didn't turn over the ball."
