LOS ANGELES (AP) - "Inglourious Basterds" scalped the competition at the box office this weekend, opening at No. 1 with more than $38 million.

Quentin Tarantino's revisionist World War II adventure about Jewish American soldiers who hunt down and scalp Nazis took over the top spot from the sci-fi thriller "District 9." It was by far the director's best opening yet.
