Lexington Police Look For Suspect After Attempted Home Invasion

A Lexington family says they were looking for a better life in the country, but got a big scare after an attempted home invasion.21-year-old Edgar Gardinez and his family had recently moved from 7th Street to a home on Elkchester Road, several miles out of town off Old Frankfort Pike.Gardinez said he received a panicked phone call late Monday afternoon. He said his mother had gotten his younger brother off the bus, then used the bus driver's cell phone to call for help. She said a man approached the back door of their home, picked up a brick and started kicking. She said when the would-be intruder saw her, he took off running.Lexington Police said the suspect is described as a tall black man, last seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and black tennis shoes.
