FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Southwest Allen County Schools are back in full swing Wednesday but not without change.
The last of the major school districts in Allen County to get back to school is welcoming Doctor Steve Yager as its new superintendent.
Yager had served for years as superintendent of Northwest Allen County Schools.
He says he's ready to work with local legislation to improve schools despite these tough economic times.
SACS Superintendent Steve Yager says, “The state is in financial difficulty. Public schools need to be a part of that fix and we are. We are doing the best we can as well as maintain the high standards...and turnout the same results that we are able to turnout in spite of the lean economic times.”
Attendance numbers for the first day back were not immediately available, but Southwest Allen Administrators are estimating them to be "slightly up."
