A Houston Police Department substation reopened for the first time since Hurricane Ike struck, KPRC Local 2 reported.

The Southeast "Storefront" on Telephone Road near Almeda Genoa Road suffered major damage during Hurricane Ike that resulted in its 10 month closure.

People toured the newly-remodeled substation and met with officers, civilian employees, and volunteers who work to keep their community safe.

Tours are available until 4 p.m. Wednesday.
