(MOBILE, Ala.) Aug. 26 - Is the Senior Bowl leaving Mobile? A news conference scheduled for Thursday could help clear up some of the confusion. On the agenda, officials will address the Senior Bowl's reported potential move out of Mobile. The Jacksonville Daily Record is reporting talks between city economic development leaders and Senior Bowl officials. The article quotes one official saying a conference cal is scheduled between city officials and the Senior Bowl next week. Earlier this year, there were reports that the game could be moving to Tampa. Senior Bowl and Mobile officials worked to put those rumors to rest. But six months out from the 2010 Senior Bowl, no contract has been signed keeping the game in the Port City. The contract between the city of Mobile and the Senior Bowl expired in January after the game. In Mobile, Senior Bowl officials are not denying the report only saying in a statement, that it would be prudent, if not necessary, to consider options. People close to negotiations say talks are still underway between the senior Bowl and Ladd Peebles Stadium. Wednesday, Senior Bowl officials released documents detailing their talks with the city, and why a contract has not been signed.
