Alberto Gonzales testifying before Congress
HOBBS, N.M. (AP) - Former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales will visit Hobbs next month to speak at the local Hispano Chamber of Commerce's annual banquet.
The former U.S. attorney general also will speak to local high school seniors about the importance of higher education.
Hobbs Municipal Schools arranged for seniors to have an assembly to hear Gonzales. Seniors from other Lea County high schools also are invited.
The chamber banquet will be Sept. 10 at the Lea County Event Center.
Gonzales was the first Hispanic to be appointed attorney general of the United States. He was also former White House counsel to President George W. Bush.
