Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. said Tuesday it has received a contract for management services for construction of a San Francisco hospital better able to withstand California's earthquakes.
Financial terms of the contract from the city and county of San Francisco were not disclosed. Voters last year authorized financing of $887.4 million in bonds, Jacobs Engineering said.
The San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center project will replace the current hospital with a facility that complies with California's seismic safety requirements, the Pasadena, Calif.-based engineering and construction company said.
Construction begins this year and extends through 2014. The hospital is expected to be operating by 2015, Jacobs Engineering said.
