A former veterinarian at Houston's controversial BARC facility has filed a lawsuit saying he was wrongfully terminated.

Dr. Gil Costas said he was fired in February 2009 after he pointed out problems at Houston's animal shelter.

An attorney for Dr. Gil Costas told KPRC Local 2 his client reported wrongdoing and shortly thereafter he was fired.

Kathy Barton with the city of Houston Health Department declined to comment on the lawsuit.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the Houston City Council will vote on whether to approve BARC consultant Gerry Fusco's entire $208,000 contract.

Fusco was hired by the city of Houston to fix problems at the animal facility.
