The City of Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department's Senior Community Services Division is pleased to announce that the Broadmoor Senior Center Expansion Project, which residents supported as part of the 2008 City Bond improvements, will soon be underway.

In preparation for the project, the Broadmoor Senior Center (1651 Tarlton) will be closed effective September 1, 2009. This expansion project will involve an approximately 2,000 additional square feet of usable space for enhancing educational, nutrition, health and wellness and multigenerational activity modules.

During the renovation period, members of the Broadmoor Senior Center members will attend other City senior centers of their choice. Accommodations for meal reservations and temporary "transfers" are set to serve current members. Each month during the expansion project, members of the center will reunite at a designated senior center for expansion project updates and to foster fellowship and to maintain continuity. Health screenings, bingo and chair volleyball activities have been coordinated at various senior centers during this transition period.
